David Prouty

David first came to Tucson in 1959 and graduated from Tucson High in 1966.  He holds a B.A. from Williams College and an M.A. in Music Education from NYU.  His professional career of 37 years includes Assistant Music Director for the Williamstown Summer Theater, 15 years as accompanist for Jacques D’Amboise’s National Dance Institute in New York, Music Director for a Broadway review presented in Thailand ad directed by Arthur Faria (Ain’t Misbehavin’, Lena Horne on Broadway), and extensive freelance work in NYC.  In Santa Fe, David was Music Director for the Santa Fe Music Hall, National Dance Institute of New Mexico, Santa Fe Performing Arts, Pandemonium Children’s Theatre, Rhythm & Moves, Inc (co-founded with his wife, Sam), and Fine Arts Coordinator and music teacher for NM Academy. David is happy to be back in Tucson, where he currently tunes pianos (tucsontune.com), is our music director, accompanies the Desert Readers, plays at numerous assisted living facilities and private parties, and performs at McMahon’s Sunday and Monday evenings and performs at Canyon Ranch.
